Members of the Newark Jaguars are starring in a new BBC TV drama.

Desperados

Desperados is a ten part drama about a wheelchair basketball team - with disabled actors playing all of the disabled characters.

Two of the stars of the programme are Richard - who plays Sam - and Zoe - who plays Shelly. Richard really enjoyed the three month shoot and Zoe loved the acting.

"It was nice to have a job like that."

However, this could be just the start of their careers - Richard has gone on to appear in the BBC drama Casualty.

The series took almost a year to make and also stars paralympic wheelchair basketball player, Ade Adepitan.

"Hopefully we'll get a few more adults back in the sport... promote it more and make people realise that disabled people can not only play sport but act as well."

The Jaguars

The Jaguars were formed in 1995 and are currently based at the Magnus Sports Centre, Earp Avenue in Newark.

They train every Saturday (1.00pm - 4.00pm and Wednesday 8.00pm - 10.00pm).
