I had always enjoyed writing in school but I hadn't picked up a pen in years. A few years ago I made a New Year's resolution to start writing again and enrolled myself on a Creative Writing course at South Notts College. I was pregnant at the time of the course and when offered a choice of genres I chose to write a children's story. When I heard about the BBC Nottingham competition I thought it'd be a great chance to rework the story as I wasn't 100% happy with it. Once completed I read Twinkles the Tooth Fairy to my 11 month old daughter Isobel. I was surprised to see her stop what she was doing and smile. This was the first writing competition I have entered - it was great to hear that I'd won. I have to admit that I haven't really written any stories since as Isobel keeps me very busy but I hope to in the future - I'm sure there'll be one or two stories where she's the star.
