"My Mum is English and my Dad is Maltese. At the moment I am living in Malta so I put a song into the Maltese junior competition and I was lucky."

As a consequence of her performance she went out to the Junior Eurovision finals.

"It gives the younger kids a chance to show their talent... it's a good opportunity", says Sophie.

"Before I went on stage I was really excited, not nervous... when I went on stage I said 'well this is it' and I did my best."

Despite being a favourite for the title, Sophie came 11th with 36 points.

However, the experience has given Sophie a thirst for performing and due to her singing ambitions her family are coming back to live in the UK.

"Malta is restricted with what you can do in the arts... it's opening a new door coming to England."
