Last year, Nottinghamshire school caretaker, Bill Chambers (63), won the BBC Sports Unsung Hero Award. Bill works at the Elms School in Saint Ann's where he organises after-school clubs and runs a youth football team. The 2006 hero The search for Sport's Unsung Hero of 2006 is underway. This is where you come in. We're looking for that special person who gives their time and talent to enable others to take part in sport. We're looking for someone who... - Is a volunteer and makes a difference to sport in the East Midlands - giving up their time and talents to enable others to participate in the sport in question. This may be in helping an individual, group, team or teams. This sport can be at any level.
- Gains no financial reward for their time and effort
- Must be aged 16 years or over.
The county's winner will be a guest of honour at the Sports Awards. The East Midlands winner will also be lucky enough to attend the BBC's annual Sports Personality of the Year Awards at the NEC in Birmingham and attend the famous after show party where they'll rub shoulders with the world's greatest sports stars. How to make a nomination You will need to complete all sections of the nomination form below. Your nominee must be informed and have agreed to being entered. The presentation to the regional winner will be made at the BBC East Midlands Awards on Monday, 27th November 2006. Nominees may be asked to appear on BBC TV and / or Radio. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding their decision. Get your nominations in! The closing date is Sunday, 5th November 2006 so don't delay.
