Nottingham's hidden disabilities

Interviews by Tom Whalley
People with learning disabilities, explain what life is like living and learning in Nottingham.

Steven Uttley - my life

I am 29 years old and I live with my Mum and Dad.

I have been coming to Nottingham Mencap for three years.

I am a student in the café, learning catering. I also come to Basic Skills class.

I enjoy watching football and I support Nottingham Forest.

I play rugby and tennis and I get medals for swimming.

I go to college and play football. I help out at Ledby farm two days a week.

Since coming to Nottingham Mencap, I have learnt to catch the bus on my own. I talk a lot more in class and carry messages to other staff.

I like to make tea and coffee at home.
