You don't need to be an expert to take part in The Big Dance world record attempt, in fact even if you've got two left feet you can still get involved. You can sign up here for one of the most fun days you'll have all summer! Be part of a new World Record The big dance will form a major live BBC1 broadcast on Saturday July 22nd. The programme, "Dancing in the Street", will be hosted by Bruce Forsyth, and follows the hugely successful Strictly Dance series. The climax of the programme will be the announcement of a new World Record, set earlier in the day by all the people across the country who took part in their local Big Dance. This could include you. How it'll work BBC Nottingham, together with the Arts Council of England, is hosting your Nottingham Big Dance event. It'll take place in the foyer area of the National Ice Centre, Nottingham. It's open to everyone, all ages and abilities, and it's free. The Big Dance will take place between 12.30pm and 12.40pm precisely, so please don't be late or your contribution will not count towards the world record. We suggest you arrive no later than 10.30am to give yourself time to register and to practice the dance with our instructor Brenda Edwards. Led by dance experts there will be a gentle warm up and an opportunity to practice the full routine before the record attempt. Everyone who takes part will get a memento of their record breaking moment. Things to watch As well as the Big Dance itself, there'll be dance groups performing from 11.00am until 1.30pm. You can watch the Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama, Cordao de Ouro Capoeria and Dance Cubana who'll be on our stage and taking part in the Big Dance. The facilities at the Ice Centre will be open for you too. Karl Cooper, from the BBC Radio Nottingham breakfast show, will be broadcasting live from the event from 12.00pm, and Frances Finn from the lunchtime show will be your host on stage. How do I get involved? It's completely free to take part in the Big Dance, but you do need to get your name on a register. This is really important since the BBC has to prove to the people at the Guiness Book of World Records exactly how many people took part. You can book your place here. If you know someone who'd like to take part and can't register on-line then ask them to call the BBC Radio Nottingham Actionline on 0115 934 8484, or you could register for them now. Numbers are limited to 2000, so please register as soon as possible. Practical stuff - Clothing: If you're taking part in Nottinghamshire's Big Dance, remember to dress appropriately.
