There's three very different tracks on your demo, is this your intention to be as diverse as possible in your approach?

Yes, that has always been our intention. It keeps it interesting for ourselves to craft different songs and push our own experimental boundaries. Do you get many people coming to your gigs, is your fan-base increasing? Our fan-base is increasing all the time, depending on the standard of the music that is on. The Internet has also been a good help in reaching people we wouldn't have reached last year. What was it like playing at the world famous Cavern? It's changed around a lot from the early days, but it's still a bit of a treat to play down there. We're playing there again shortly on Friday 29th of September, got to plug it! How did you get to play there? We sent them a demo of our stuff the last time, but this time around The Cavern approached us through our Myspace site, saying they liked our sound. Is there a story behind the name of the band? Yeah, we had a song called 'Blank Canvas' which was on an early E.P around three years ago. So we decided to play around with it and we came up with 'Dirty Kanvus'. Do you get many opportunities to play in Nottinghamshire, it seems many bands have to leave the city to get gigs? It hasn't really been a problem to get gigs in and around Nottingham. Where we can see you play next in Nottinghamshire? At Junktion 7 on Thursday 8th of June and at the Cookie Club on Sunday 11th June, for Drop in the Ocean. And your influences? Sigur Ros, Jeff Buckley, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Rolling Stones, The Who, Kasabian, Stone Roses, The Black Keys, Jose Gonzalez, Radiohead, The Kinks, The Jam, B.B.King, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd. |
