MusicYou are in: Nottingham > Entertainment > Music > Unsigned: Levity ![]() Levity's James Morgan Unsigned: LevityFour Nottingham blokes in their late teens who mix classical with indie. Read what they have to say about themselves and listen to their music. Want to know more about Levity? We've been grilling singer and lead guitarist James Morgan. Who are the biggest influences on your music?Hard to say really! Each band member has completely different influences which ultimately results in a blend of all sorts. Jacques was a classical musician from an early age, drummer Matt is a pretty heavy hitter which comes from his influences of heavy bands like Mudvayne. Myself, I am a Grunge kid through and through and Adam on the bass likes his emo and indie. This being said, however, when all four are in a room together we are each others influences and whatever sound is produced is just that, no strings. Is Nottinghamshire a good place to develop as a band? You know there are A LOT of great bands is Notts, there's a lot of interesting stuff going on just like I am sure there is in other places throughout the country. Nottingham is a great place for live music but it's always hard for up and coming bands, when there's so many other bands out there wanting to play the places you do, reach out to the people you do it makes it tough sometimes. I suppose you just have to try and not get put off by it and take every chance you're given. When it comes to that Nottingham is full of chances for bands, you just have to know where to look. What would you want to achieve?Everyone in a band must strive to be known in their own town, established enough to have your name passed around and people know who you are, what you do. I think we would all love to build a reputation about the band for putting our life and soul into everything surrounding it, to be appreciated in music for being genuine guys who are doing something they each love for all the right reasons. What have people been saying about Levity?People become drawn in, like a moth to a flame really! People realise that there's something different going on with Levity to the usual conveyor belt of indie bands spurred on by a current trend. Regardless of trends some music styles and song styles shine through all that, sometimes people enjoy a ballad or an old fashioned rock and roll tune. When it comes to this Levity do not shy away, people find it refreshing that a band are trying to produce music that doesn't comply to any set rules or regulations, whatever we write is what we write there's no stopping to think about it. How do the crowd react to you?Interested mostly! I think the heavy use of piano and guitar alongside each other is great to hear but also I guess it's easy to expect a Coldplay rip off band. Levity are definitely nothing along those lines, more like Coldplay on acid! All in all the receptions have been better than we could ask for, everyone in the band is confident in our sound being something fresh brought to the table and this is definitely backed up by the amount of people left saying 'what was that?!' and yearning for more. last updated: 23/09/2008 at 13:26 SEE ALSOYou are in: Nottingham > Entertainment > Music > Unsigned: Levity Venue websites
