This popular comic opera follows the story of  Frederic who was mistakenly apprenticed to the Pirate king instead of training to be a pilot.

Determined to make amends for his wrong doings Frederick vows that on his 21st birthday he will undertake to see that the pirate band is brought to justice.

However a meeting between the villains and the Major Generals daughters leads to a succession of hilarious events culminating in an outcome that leaves everyone happy and content.

It was comical when the Police Sergeant and his men sang ‘When a Felon’s not Engaged in his Employment’, their dance routine in which they waved their truncheon and arms about in an aggressive manner whilst shaking at the knees was very amusing.

The scene which provoked the most laughter was the fight between the pirates and the policemen, the cowardice of the law versus the bravado of the buccaneers and the melee that ensued was extremely funny.

All the people with lead parts had strong clear voices and it was possible to hear almost every single word they said and sang.

This was a very enjoyable evening’s entertainment, the whole cast gave their all, their enthusiasm was infectious and the standard of the singing, acting, choreography and accomplished playing from the orchestra was impressive bearing in mind that the performers are all students at various stages in their university studies.
