Cars parked on the pavements make it very difficult for someone like me to use a scooter or wheelchair when I go out.
It is difficult enough being disabled.

CYCLING ON THE PAVEMENT , CAR'S IN BUS LANES (ESP NEAR CITY HOSPITAL) HAS ANYONE EVER BEEN PROSICUTED FOR THIS?.

Parking on double yellow lines or on pavements or on zigzag markings, outside schools. Do these people actually have legs to get to the school gates to meet their darlings?
I park properly away from the school and walk even if I'm late (I wish I had presssing social engagemnts necessitating such close parking...)
Peter
I'm with "Bob from Beeston". Cyclists practically get away with murder- ignore 1 way systems, ride without lights, ride on the pavement, run red lights, etc. etc. etc.

Dropping litter and chewing gum! Nottingham will never be a fair city until this is sorted out.

Imtimidation. Either by groups of young people hanging about on street corners or by older folks yelling at youngsters for standing in groups talking to friends. Can we all try to be a little more tollerant!

Cyclist that still cycle on the road when the local councils have spent millions on cycle paths for them!! What a total waste of money!!
Teresa from Forest Town
Drivers that think they can drive and do other things at the same time! I've seen men shaving, drinking, eating large cobs, smoking - don't they realise driving in this day and age needs 100% concentration? I bet the man shaving that almost ran my daughter and I over didn't even know he was going though a red light on a pedestrian crossing - thank goodness for the bus driver that saw him coming and was able to alert me in time.

Where to start... there are so many; dropping litter, paint spraying, illegal parking... but my favourite for the most flouted law has to be cyclists on pavements. They're a menace; I've been hit by bikes twice in the last year, and when you politely inform them that they're breaking the law, the riders usually ignore you or bombard you with some very colourful language!
bob from beeston
I think the most common law being flouted in Nottinghamshire is that of cycling on pavements. At least it is in Beeston, and I suspect everywhere else. It is becoming such a problem that before long somebody will be seriously injured, or perhaps worse. There is a fixed penalty for this offence but it is rarely applied because the police are not interested. The reason is, of course, that they never encounter it, as they spend all their time siting comfortably behind computers or in their cars. If they actually got out and patrolled the streets a bit more often they would see what's going on in the real world.
Andrew
Vandalism. Are there any bus shelters in Nottingham which still have the glass in?

We recently moved back up North after 20 yrs in London and are loving it here in Newark! The law that we are surprised to see flouted so often here, though, is footway parking. It's probably being done out of misguided consideration not to block the roads, but in London you would get a bit fat parking ticket for that. Don't people here appreciate that it knackers the pavements unless they are the specially reinforced kind with signs to show footway parking is allowed? Not knocking the folks of Newark or this lovely town, but they are going the right way about reducing the value of their own properties by gradually destroying the pavements outside them.
OK, since parking was decriminalised, it's not exactly flouting the law, but it's still an offence punishable with a fine. Come on, Newarkian, let's keep our pavements for people and not be tearing them up with cars and obstructing the way for people with prams or wheelchairs!

Weed smoking at bus stops. They make no attempt to cover it up. It stinks!
Matt
Speeding is not a flouted law in Nottingham because it has so many ruddy speed cameras!
Peter
Parking on the pavement. Even without a yellow line!
John C
I reckon that the majority of people who take a vehicle on to the public highway will break a traffic law in the course of their journey so driving without due care and attention must rate as the most committed offence.

Using mobile 'phones whilst driving.
Dropping litter (sorry to say that Nottingham is filthy dirty).
Cars etc using the bus lanes.
Speeding.
Bikes on the pavements.
LOUD music from EVERYWHERE, particularly in shops and posers cars. Don't think this is against the law, but it certainly annoys me!!
James
Dropping litter, why is Nottingham such a dirty place? The street cleaners do an excellent job, but have you ever walked through the city centre early in the morning before the street cleaners have geen out - its disgusting!

Drink driving. Most of the country wouldn't think twice about having a couple of pints then getting behind the wheel of a car. Why they think this is ok, I don't know? Why do English people have to drink to have a good time?

Driving while on the mobile phone.? Anti social behaviour by alarge number the population. I blame the government. WE live in a rip off society. With no standards and the elderly do not matter.
