Overvibe
Nottingham's Overvibe

Unsigned : Overvibe

Article and Interview by Rev Socks
Nottingham duo 'Overvibe' have recently been voted unsigned band of the week on London’s Xfm. Read all about them and listen to their tracks.

Who are Overvibe?

Si Aljewicz (Vocals/Guitars/Synthesizer)

Simon Claridge (Programming/Synths)

Thom Newman (Bass Guitar)

Overvibe formed in early 2003 when old school friends Si Aljewicz and Simon Claridge got together after a chance meeting while backpacking in Thailand.

"It was weird", Says Simon A "but fate works like that, we promised that when we got back to the UK we would try and make some music together.

"I had left my old band in 2002 to go travelling around the world and after 4 months I was really beginning to miss my guitars and making music in general, so after the culture shock of returning back home, and a couple of months getting back to reality, we began to set up our own studio at Rubber Biscuit Studios in Nottingham, we just wanted to get on with making great tracks that we and other people will always want to listen to."

"With my experience of playing in live bands and Simon C’s deft mind with computers, we both saw it as a challenge, but it was something completely new to me having played in bands with 3 or 4 guys and it was completely new to Simon C as well because he pretty much did music by himself at the time."

The band lists pretty much all-musical genres as their influences. Simon C muses, "We love all types of music as long as its done well you’ve got to respect it and I hope that comes across in our music."

Overvibe have finished their self produced debut album "Lite Revolva" (out now, available from the official Overvibe website £6 postage paid) and have already begun writing new material for their second album.

They have recently been voted unsigned band of the week on London’s Xfm Radio and best demo on Channel 4’s PlanetSound.

Drummer/guitarist wanted

Simon A concludes, "Not having a conventional band like a drummer or bassist etc was strange, but as we began to find our feet musically and as the album grew we realised that we would need extra musicians to go out and play live so we were very lucky to find and recruit Bassist Thom Newman.

Thom’s added a completely new dimension to the Overvibe sound and now we are just about ready to bring the band to the live circuit, but we need a drummer and a second guitarist so if your out there and you're into the tracks and you think you have what it takes please email us at info@overvibe.co.uk or www.overvibe.co.uk or www.myspace.com/overvibe"
