John came to Nottingham as a Mining Engineering student, and stayed. He met his wife, Kate, in The Salutation, whilst she was working as a nurse at Mapperley Hospital, they married and now have an expanding family of three grown-up children and four granddaughters - he's working towards a netball team. John first broadcast on Radio Nottingham in April 1970! "It was a children's request show called Bran Tub with Squeg & Syrup." He went on to front the legendary Saturday Rock Music show, 'Extravaganza' and front our midmorning and breakfast shows. He also worked on our sport's output during those heady days when Forest won the European Cup, the Magpies were in the First Division under Jimmy Sirrel, Torvill & Dean were skating the world and Notts Cricket Club could boast championship and cup successes. John now presents the Afternoon Show on BBC Radio Nottingham and is often rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous. But he's keen to stress that his average day isn't all glamour. People often chuckle when they first meet John as he shares his name with a famous porn star. This fact has made his presenter page the most viewed out of all the BBC Radio Nottingham presenters.
