It might not be as big as the Edinburgh festival but from little acorns great things grow. That's what the organisers of the first Southwell Festival will be hoping. For a fortnight in June the historic market town will play host to musicians, stars, theatre, jazz and the arts. And BBC Nottingham will be playing a part as well. BBC Radio Nottingham are broadcasting live from the event on Friday June the 10th. Nick Brunger's afternoon show between 2 and 5 pm will come live from The Minster Suite in The Saracens Head. Nick will be joined by Songs of Praise and Strictly Come Dancing star, Aled Jones and Matthew McAllister. You can be in the audience for free. Simply turn up on the day. If music is your passion then how about coming to see Mick Smith's weekly country show which'll be broadcast live from The Bramley Apple between 7 and 9 pm on Tuesday 21st June. Mick will be joined by country artists Mel Romane, Karl Abrams and Mick Mont and The Bassman. There's loads more going on at the festival so you'd be well advised to check out the official Southwell Festival website (links in the right hand corner of this page). |
