Who needs Star Trek when you've got Dr Who? (okay there's plenty of room for both!).

Anyway, the man in the Tardis is heading back to our screens on BBC 1 and to celebrate his return we want to know which of the doctor's reincarnations would be best to see off the Daleks (and the Cybermen and the Ice Warriors etc etc).

Not that we want to influence the vote in anyway but here in Nottinghamshire we've a soft spot for Doctor number 4 - Tom Baker. The reason is that he used to live here in Notts - Ruddington to be precise.

But hey, don't be swayed by us. Here's a list of the contenders...

Doctor Who 1 - William Hartnell

Doctor Who 3 - Jon Pertwee

Drove a couple of cars (one of which was designed by a Nottingham man).

Doctor Who 4 - Tom Baker

He lived in Ruddington and wore a long scarf.

Doctor Who 5 - Peter Davison

Doctor Who 9 - Christopher Eccleston

The new kid on the block, star of Shallow Grave but can he convince as the Dr?

Doctor Who 10 - Peter Cushing

He starred in the film versions of the good doctor from the 1960's.
