KT Tunstall

KT Tunstall – Eye To the Telescope

Nigel Bell
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again but this artist could be a big star in 2005.

Who:

Female singer/songwriter with a dash of Dido, a hint of Sheryl Crow, mixed with Norah Jones and Kathryn Williams but a sound that’s often similar to Starsailor.

Eh?:

Strange but true, but it’s got a lush production reminiscent of that band’s first album.

Verdict:

The female singer/songwriter category is getting full to bursting at the moment but KT Tunstall has enough to put her ahead of the game. In an age when the dreadful Katie Melua can become a star it would be a travesty if Tunstall slips below the wire. She was born in Edinburgh but spent a lot of time in the States so there are plenty of influences on Telescope. The worry is the timing of this release. If the record company is determined to push their protégé sticking this out at Christmas seems a strange time; there’s a real danger it’ll be lost amidst the greatest hits packages. Expect a re-release in the spring!

k t is so creative, its unbelievable-it is living proof that the youth of today can make good, soul-moving music, not this r and b crap we get-i should know- i'm 15-i absolutley adore accoustic, and this is the best stuff i've heard since the corrs-when' she bringing out another one?

I first saw K.T on Jools Holland playing solo (live)and was so impressed I nearly fell off my bean-bag! - What a star. Better than all the young girls trying to clamber on to the Eva Cassidy band-wagon. The only wagon K.T's riding,is maybe a milk float back from 1960's rock scene in the middle of the night!. Her voice is versatile and her lyrics are great! Just what we need in our cd collection - a real tonic! Katie Bradley - Folkestone Kent

KT is a thrilling, refreshing, multi-faceted talent for sure. I cannot see how Katie Melua can in any way be fairly described as "dreadful", though. She's the first for many years who can touch the spot to just make me weep freely. Katie and KT are different. Both are in their way quite outstanding talents. I'm off to buy KT's album now... Harrumph!

listening to the album for the first time after hearing a track for the first time on Scott Mills show on Radio 1. I love this album and K T is without doubt the best female singer / songwriter I heard period. A must buy
