Katie, Worksop
No one person is to blame for our current predicament.
The majority of our problems seem to come from when we lost in the play-offs. We lost players which weren't adequately replaced. We didn't sign Darren Huckerby, Nigel Doughty said the money was there for him but it was Paul Hart that didn't want to sign him. When David Johnson was injured we allowed Harewood to leave taking us from promotion position to relegation. Joe came in and turned it around.
Although Joe brought in players toward the end of the season which got us out of relegation, and were subsequently given contracts, the squad was not sufficiently improved during the summer with the loss of two players and only two signings.
Clubs like Sheffield United, Derby County, Leicester and Leeds are all attracting players while we are not and therefore have strength in depth which we don't. Again Doughty is looking at trimming the wage bill in the summer, so should we stay up, it is unlikely there will be any major signings and therefore we will be in exactly the same position.
Jonathan Maley
It is an obvious mixture of them all. Joe was ambitious but naiive, paul harte was thrown in the deep end after managing the academy, doughty's running out of money and ideas and david platt signed some derisory talents, the likes of which cost us our repuatation and alot of money. Mark my words Gary Megson will not falter, he knows his own mind and he doesnt follow in others footsteps. Cheers from Jon, a real fan
Albert, Hucknall
Its all down to that prat Platt.
We took him on as a rookie manager and he was arrogant enough to think he could do the job.
Not good enough, still not good enough.

I think this is all davids platts fault were in the position were in now and he sold our layers and got us in to debt when we had him as manager

i decided at the start of this season to watching football again.... i had a choice to get another season ticket at Forest (had one for 15 years up until about 1998) or go and watch a non-league team
Guess what............?!? i decided to watch Hucknall Town...... missed a hand full of games home and away with Hucknall this season and it has to be the best decision I have ever made.......
what a season they have had..... and MORE IMPORTANTLY.....WHAT A GREAT CLUB.
not once this season have i been made to feel anything less than appreciated.
A far cry from when i used to follow Forest when most of the time i felt like a walking wallet that the club wanted to empty at every oportunity....It was certainly not 'my' club anymore towards the end.
heres looking forward to another season following my club in the Conference North.

Everyone will have their different opinions as to who is to blame, some will say Doughty, some Kinnear, some Hart and some Platt. We could even go all the way back and say that we started to overachieve back in 1977 when our visionary manager took us to promotion and then league and European Championships. Would anyone actually stand up and say that Cloughie was the main cause of our predicament?? I shall stand here and say that the Great Man is slightly to blame, because if he had not have won so many trophies in our 'glory years' we would not have been chasing that pot of gold over the past dozen years. I'm sorry if this offends some fans, its only my point of view, and I think that noone involved with this club in the past 30 years is blameless. Its been coming to us, I'm just surprised its took this long.
I will however, be in the Trent End at the beginning of next season to see our magical mystery tour of League One begin.
Jz
I say forget about the past and lets concentrate on Forest now and in the Future, Forest should NOT be where they are - i don't know whos to blame and all that matters is that we improve and play like the good old days!
Forest has the most amazing fans and it is a pleasure to be one alongside you all - Forest WILL return - beware you "rams"! You REDS!!!!
jack of carlton
l suppose that a certain player called van hoydonk got it right when he went on strike for the club not being ambitous enough, he was right, but then again since mr clough resigned, we or should l say successive managers directors, chairman have not had the passion or know how to be successful although l would say mr harts heart was in the reds.

The fan base is there but is taking a whacking year after year. Remember those European nights? It has not been good watching Forest for nearly a decade if we are honest.
Fans will be doing the unthinkable and changing to black and white. Nottingham United?
Who is to blame? All of us for letting football get as big as it is. Watch Chelsea play and pay an arm and a leg. How many of you earn a tenner an hour and think you are on a good earner?
Just a thought.

I want to urge all Nottingham Forest Supporters who attend Sundays match to take a white hanky and at 2.30 precisely wave it around as a sign of surrender. Thank you. James

Finger pointing and expoloiting the blame culture is only serves to distract from the real issues. Mark Arthur and Gary Megson have a very good idea of what needs to be done - so let them get on with it!
But the day when things really went into decline and spiral out of control was when 'O Fortuna@ (a fine but discordant, harsh operatic piece heralding doom, gloom, negativity and misfortune)replaced the traditional 'Robin Hood' song! Need I say more???
Good Luck and see you next season!!
R.Lee
Have the board come up with a catchy slogan to encourage us to buy season tickets yet?
Well here are a few ideas.
1) Give us all the cash you can afford and we wont bother trying too hard.
2) We promise not to buy any quality players with your cash.
3)We know the fans are serious about promotion, but we dont give a rats ass just as long as they keep paying our over inflated ticket, merchandise and match day food prices.
Please feel free to use any of my ideas, at least we would believe you.

Who,s to blame PLATT..CHAIRMAN... Given to much money by the chairman,to a manager who had no managment skills,or background...
But we all have to look on the bright side, and hope things will get better, and they will..

No one is to blame for the current situation at nottingham forest. When i go down and see forest i notice that they usually outclass each team they play, but they lack any consistant goalscorers.I do think however, that PLATT did waste money on players that never even played for the team.Gary Megson has a big task ahead of him but i think with KRIS COMMONS and GARETH TAYLOR on form, forest should be able to avoid relagation.
roddyindcox@msn.com
In my opinion PLATT is to blame for the current situation, bought joke players and could not motivate the squad, got paid a lot of money for doing absolutely nothing,he should be locked up for hitting Tommy Harris with a wrench in Corrie, not his brother Martin!!!!.
Vincent
I agree Stuey, Nigel Doughty is to blame. The only thing he is serious about is his bank balance.
sarah shepherd
there are a number of key factors to forest's demise. One is definately the players, most of them lack commitment. In my job if I under acheive I am given a warning which can then lead to the sack, some of the forest players should have been sacked along time ago. Next in line is management if thats what you can call it, they themselves do not look committed. If they are not no wonder the players are the same!!!!
I appreciated that players need to be sold etc etc however sometimes I do not see the logic in who is sold and who is bought, or not bought (like huckerby).
To be honest you can not just blame one person I think when you are on a slippery slide it is so hard to get out of it. I would love to see a)More committment from Management. b)A lot more committment from players!!! and for fans to continue as we have always done to support the best team in the land.
Doug.H.
Fred Reacher and board members startedthe decline by not finishing Brian early that last season. After that the winner hands down is Platt.Described by one board member as the best young manager in the country
Manager of what spend spend spend?
David
I couldn't agree more Stuey. Football chairmen shouldn't be able to exploit clubs for business purposes or use them as a status symbol. At least some degree of support for the club should be a prerequisite for the position.
Stuey
No question that Nigel Doughty is responsible for our current predicament as he is the one person who could bail us out.
Anyone who saw the football rich list will know that Doughty is one of the richest men in football, ahead of many Prem chairmen.
Forest is just a toy in his extravagant lifestyle and he does not have the passion to ensure the club long term stability.
George /australia
ok so the experiment with David tarka did not go as to plan.Forest need to look abroad to strenthen there playing squad.A large number of players from around the world would love to be given the opportunity to play with forest and at the same time help forest back up to where they and we expect them to be.Perhaps a association with a local club here in Western Australia would be a start. They would have a number of juniors rising through the ranks and with the extra players available their playing stocks would increase alot but without the hefty pricetags .

There is some truth and substance in everything everyone says.
The missing point is : there is NO way out until we hire a REAL manager. There has not been one since Clough. Hart was EXCELLANT in his youth role, but not his fault to be appointed manager. Unless we pay the price for Santini or Houllier or equivalent (there are no english), we will never see greatness again. The current candidates being mentioned continue my dismay that this has still not being understood by the powers that be.

the board are to blame, have been for several years

There is no serious reason why nottingham forest has lost its big time status its a case of thats football.
You only have to look at the premiship now to see when Forest was at the top of there Game there was other top teams around such as QPR NORWICH WATFORD DERBY BRIGHTON EVEN SWANSEA.
Were are they now all stuggling like us with a club stuggling to make ends meet i am afraid you may see nottingham forest shrink even more yet!
Stephen Picker 14
I think that theres not one main person to point the finger to but the chairman seems not to bee giving the managers any money, platt blew the kitty on players like pertrachi and messreono or whoever, the only decent player he brought in was johno. We need to get a good manager now big joes gone he blew it for me when he said that the derby games was a normal game, and thats not good for any red dogs to hear, so he's basicly saying derby v.s forest is the same as forest v.s rotheram. i think the man for us is GARY MEGSON or PHYSCO it will be hard to get these men in because of the position we are in. I wish joe could of signed GOATER because i feel he would of banged those lose ball. We will see what happens in may COME ON U REDS.
Sam - Retford
The whole attitude at The City Ground I feel needs to change, from the board, the manager, the players & the fans our current situation is a culmination of past mistakes, bad managers, bad signings etc etc we just need to pull together & deal with the situation we are in. Let's stop all the internal board/manager/player politics & give all players that are suitable to play a game a chance rather than leaving players on the bench or in the reserve team for incidents that have happened & are now in the past come on Joe let's sort it out or stand aside to give somebody else a chance. Lets get the fans behind what has the potential of being a good team & on match day lets hear The City ground full of 22,000 fans all singing for a team they can be proud to watch - COME ON YOU MIGHTY MIGHTY REDS
Danny Kaye
Although I do not agree with the idea of changing Managers during a bad run, This Manager cannot be allowed to continue. Look at the facts. He hates any talk of our glorious past. He cannot (or will not) interact with the paying fans and describes us as morons. Last but not least, he does not consider playing Derby as special.

Jo kinnear - they cannot get so bad from the end of last season without him doing something wrong
Mo, Nottingham
Surely somewhere in Joe Kinnear's Job description he must have an obligation to deal with the media and make his voice heard to the fans. Then again after his 'just another game' comments he has made it abundantly clear his understanding. Maybe his sentiments where directed at the club's priority to take points this season but we cannot even achieve that. We no longer seem to have any clout in signing players (even one's we could potentially affford). He may have set out distancing himself from the Clough legacy of football on the ground but his legacy of saving us for Championship football this season does not give him a devine right to maintain the job. Each week no results, no Comment. How about No Job.

i think it best to sell anyone we can get good money for now before we end up giving them away.hopefully we will then have a better foundation to be able to spend money we can afford and we will hopefully then be in a stronger position than the rest of the clubs in the division.but i think we need to find promising players from lower divisions we can get cheaper and on lower wages than old players who cant cut it in the premier league who half the time are injured and are more than likely getting a high wage.i thought kinnear would be capable of doing this but i now have my doubts.still we have won 2 out of the last 4 games so we may be turning a corner?
Steve
the only people not to blame are the fans and paul hart. we have the players, so why don't we use them?! whatever happened to bopp?! Commons?! and now James, he's returned to fitness, looked pretty clued in when he came on against reading, but has not figured since. joe kinnear bleats about not having his best starting XI but he doesnt even have a clue what that XI is. and with all the total rubbish in our side, (stand up jess, evans, impey, taylor and king) are they dragging the decent players down to their pathetic level. lets see westcarr and lester up front, commons and bopp in midfield. shake it up and let these players pass it around on the floor instead of dawson hoofing it up field. we've got joe and now we've got his protege. doughty is no doubt a good businessman but a pathetic football club chairman. with big pre-season talk, big prices the club should expect a big back lash from the fans when it goes down the toilet. do us all a favour joe and just quit and don't forget to take mick with you now will you!!

Joe Kinnear is useless, lsoing to derby is like losing every game of the season. he needs to be sacked now before we cant get out of it. the players need motivation and kinnear cant give it. and what a load of bull of reducing the debt by 25 million

There is not one thing or person to blame for the predicament Forest find them selves in of late,Its slowly been happening for the last 5/6 years and bit by bit you have been sucked in until suddenly you realise that at the moment things are looking dire...
I am a Derby fan and we have been in the same situation for the last few years also and upto this season were suffering the same but with a good manager and some sensible dealings by him to bring in some quality players and the belief that we are are a good team as totally transformed us and as you all can see flying high and doing pretty well this season.....
All i can say is stick with it...we did and look at us now....
P.S.......We still will win you this Saturday but after that you can come good and take the points off the leicester lads.. ;o)
Chris
This goes way back to the board that sold the club to the likes of Irving Scholar in the mid 90's. That's when things went downhill dramatically and the club lurched into debt.
Doughty has had to pick up the pieces and tries to run the club as a normal business. In the meantime Kinnear has lost the respect of many fans for not attending post match interviews, he's happy to take credit but cannot take criticism. Also, his inaccurate claims regarding bids for players aren't doing him any favours. It certainly isn't the minority of fans that are against him where I sit! BC had a big head but had even bigger talent, Joe's got a big head and an even bigger mouth! Do yourself a favour Joe treat the fans with respect.
matt
Joe Kinnear is not fit to manage our football club and results this season prove that,he has made several poor signings (impey and rogers especially.) That being said the players must shoulder some of the blameas their lack of effort and commitment to the club is glaringly obvious. we need a new manager and a russian chairman!
N.COX
Forest need to face the facts, they are a small club. Looking forward to the mighty RAMS giving them a good hiding!!!!!!
Paul
Too much money was trusted to Platt. To give a novice manager the type of money we did was suicide. Paul Hart worked wonders with no money and helped trim the wage bill by putting in the kids and getting rid of the high earners BUT that has also been our downfall. We lost the likes of Scimeca, Rogers, Bart-Williams, Brennan, Lester, Harewood, Wlliams etc. Had we kept some of those and added Huckerby when we had the chance we would have gone up last year. We the supporters must also realise that we are never going to reach the heights that we have in the past and accept the fact that for all those years under Cloughie we vastly over achieved. Having said that we are certainly a Premiership club in every way but the team. If we sack Kinnear who would want to come here with no money and an average squad? May I suggest an ex red who is working wonders at Scunny? Step forward Mr Brian Laws.

Its certainly not the Forest fans' fault. That's like blaming a bad movie on the audience. The buck stops at the top.If JK can't motivate the players (and they really should be higher in the league than they are) then he needs to be replaced

recently the players have been unable to do basic things like string passes together. the responsibility for ensuring the players execute the basics is ultimately the manager's, either by practising the basics or addressing issues like confidence and strategy. if a manager can't do that, even if there are financial problems underlying squad problems etc, he has to take responsibility for it.
James Musson-Arnold
A few people have made different faults throughout the last 5-6 years which has slowly seen our downfall. not one person or set of people can take the blame. i think its time that the club was refreshed. meaning the chairman leaves (sells on the club) so we get better new funds, new manager with new tactics which can actually work instead of playing rubbish like gregor robertson and ross gardner, we need someone with common sense and intellegence in charge. i think joe kinnear should walk away now so that he can at least take pride that he saved us last season!!

Derby do not have strength in depth. Hardly anyone in this league does. If other clubs had the same injury situation we have suffered this season they would be in the same position.
Exactly who's to blame is largely irrelevant. Forest have struggled to come to terms with the Premiership and are suffering from the financial realities of being locked out from the money tree.
We do now though have an opportunity to be realistic with the finances whilst pulling on the substantial experience of a proven manager, along with his much respected mate as coach, to build a side that can begin to challenge.
Constantly chopping and changing manager's is a proven route to disaster. Stability is what we need and the move for Harford hopefully shows that this is what Doughty wants. I'm with him on this one.
scatz
I read somewhere about we should be in the position of the likes of Bolton, Charlton, Birmingham just because there little clubs doing well in the premier league, but surely you have to remember it was’nt so long ago that we was doing well in the premier league and these teams were struggling in the lower divisions. We’ve had our good times like there having there’s now, but our bad times seem to be dragging on too long now so who is to blame, why when we got promotion a couple of seasons back did we sell Kevin Campbell, prompting Van Hooidjonk to go on strike and went straight back down as a result, why sell the likes of Scimica, Williams, Rogers, Harewood, (the list goes on) for very little money. Is it management or boardroom staff forcing these sales, we don’t know so who can we blame. Lets look at how we can turn the club around rather than looking who is to blame, you see take the 3 clubs I mentioned ealier all have managers that have been allowed to manage for a substantial time Sam Allerdyce, Alan Curbishley, and Steve Bruce, all started with those clubs in the lower division, so we’ve got to give Joe Kinnear a chance surely even if it’s just to get some stability at the club. I’m sure we can stop up this season even if it’s 4th bottom, but then maybe next season mid table, the season after top ten, season after play off place, and who knows by 2010 we may reach the premier league. I just don’t think there’s a quick fix, we have to be patient, I can’t see the point off getting promotion like Leicester, Palace, Norwich, Wolves, West Brom just to get relegated again, lets take our time and build a good strong squad of players and I can’t think of any better manager at the moment who can search out the best players of the lower leagues which lets face it, that’s all we can afford or even attract now. So come on Joe and Ray please stay at Forest and shut up all the moaning fans living in the late 70’s early 80’s who seem to think we should be winning European cups again, mmm how much money have Chelsea spent recently to try and gain euro sucsess? Maybe it is some of our moaning fans to blame after all who don’t give managers and players a chance, I mean I don’t happen to think some players are good enough for our club, but I would never dream of booing and shouting at players on the field, if there having a bad game they know they are and the manager knows and I’m sure it’s discussed after the match end of story, as for players not trying that’s crap, I used to play football like many other fans and the’ll agree that no player on a football field wants to lose no matter what the circumstances. I can never understand fans singing ‘sing your hearts out for the lads’ when there teams about 3 or 4 up, surely you should sing it when 1 or 2 down to try and pick your side up but I can never see our fans doing that espealily at home. It might help though if we change the ground arrangements, I can remember sitting in the lower bridgford end whilst the trent end was being built and the atmosphere was great, we give away fans some of the best seats in the stadium at the moment surely it would be better to make both ends of the ground Forest fans to try and intimidate clubs which Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, etc have done for years putting away fans high in a small corner.

Stop complaining now.We need positive thinking by the board, management, players and fans.
Stop looking backwards and all look to our future in positive frame of mind.Forget BLAME it is negative.Lets all start today by e-mail and send possitive strategies and opinions to the board, management and players that we are all on the same side together we want to win every game and claw our way forward out of this mess.So lets concentrate on the possitives and let go of the bagage??

WHY oh WHY is this club in so much debt ????? With average gates of over 22000 each paying approx £20-£28, a lot of clubs elsewhere would like that kind of revenue !! That's before anyone buys a pie, a drink, a programme or their kids a replica shirt !! WHY is this debt not decreasing ??
Rogers and Impey are has -beens. The players that have been to the City Ground in the past 2 years have been allowed to slip through the net, WHY. Wage cap or no ambition ??
Prutton, Scimicea, Harewood, Brennan, Jenas, Stewart (Scotland)Stephen McPhail chose Barnsley (!!!) over Forest WHY ?
Kinnear is also over the top and overrated. What die Liam O'Kane and his coaching sidekick do for their wages ?? The club needsa complete overhaul and quickly.

Since the departure of the late BC Forest have become a YO YO club but they are running out of momentum fast.
Frank Clark seemed to be the perfect solution but he lost his way (and his nerve to play attacking football!).
Bassett, well I must say I wasn't a fan of his style but fully respect what he achieved but it only came right when Houghton joined him and got Campbell to play football. The biggest mistake was the attack of stage fright the board had at that point when promoted.
As for Platt, obviously a good talker, his abilty as a coach/manager is nonexistent. How did such astute selfmade businessman of the day become sucked into that. Without doubt the most damaging part of the clubs recent history. He should be made to pay compensation.
The appointment of Hart was always doomed to end in disaster because not only did he fail as the manager we lost his acumen at the academy. Own Goal I think Mr. Doughty.
The rest is immaterial save to say that the ony thing Forest as a club have been good at in recent years is giving money away.I refer to the endless catastrophes in the transfer market, - e.g.Silenzi,Jurkan,The Italian Job,Saunders, for whom we rejected a 300k offer to give him away a few weeks later to Sheff. United who incidentally, later sold him for big money.
I could go on and on but it's breaking my heart.
Guruturu, Nottingham
It's all about money these days...Brian Clough was one of the greatest managers ever. Nottingham was never really one of the greatest teams before him, and now we are just settling back to that level. Without huge financial support and a good manager it's going to be really difficult. Joe Kinnear was a rescue job. Paul Hart should have kept his job and more money should have been given.

The only ones who can't be blamed, surely, are the fans. We have supported them well in good and bad times and paid the privillege to do so. I think if there isn't some significant changes soon, a lot of people will be put off buying a season ticket. COME ON YOU REDS!!
Richard, Nottingham
The blame for me lies totally at Kinnears door. His endless talk to the press about "getting 5 players in by next weekend" which never happens drags the fans down so what effect does this have on his playing staff?. He raises our hopes with empty promises, would you work for your manager at work if he did that to you?. Doughty should not give Kinnear another penny to spend. The squad we have is more then good enough to be on the top 10/12 of this league as we showed at the end of last season. Kinnear has spent about £600.000 so far this season while managers of the likes of Top of the table Ipswich have not had a penny to spend for 4 yes FOUR seasons. Whats more, Kinnear says HE has got the debt down from the phantom figure of £40mill to £15mill - how has he done that without selling a single player?. It's time to go Joe, we have had enough of joKe Kinnear
Rory Bevitt
There are two people to blame for this mess.
1)David Platt for wasting so much money on rubbish players.
2)Doughty for giving Platt that amount of money, by not giving Harty or kinnear money to spend on new players, when we need it.
Ken The Red
It's a combination of incompetence really. The Chairman has overseen the appointment of a number of substandard managers, without any funds to really improve the team.this money should have been made available after we failed in the playoffs. now I fear it's too late. Forest are quickly becoming Wimbledon, perhaps we will be renamed Nottingham Dons for our inaugaral season in League One.Unless a new broom sweeps clean, we are heading for oblivion.
Arthur, Notting Hill
We have the worst fans in football. 21,000 a week turn up just to have a good moan. Somehow they expect us to win the European cup every season which put pressure on the board to overspend in the first place. We can barely organise a website never mind a Trust. Kudos to Notts County for getting a fan on the board. That would never happen at Forest.
The Board
Are the fans as serious about relegation as we are ?
Arch Denovellis (Top Valley)
Ive supported forest for over 50yrs,we could all go on about who to blame for this shambles of a club (Gillies,Brown,Platt,Doughty)but we are talking of the present day, 2004 and the book has to stop at Kinnear's door, his latest remark after saturday's defeat was if Morgan defended any deeper he would have been in the stand's with the fans. Is'nt it the managers or coaches job to tell player's were their going wrong and do, this do, that in this case get forward attack the ball.Im sorry Joking Here your to blame for this mess please go back south asap.
Jon, Evesham
Our problems can go all the way back to the day after a very successful promotion season, someone decided to sell Kevin Campbell which lead to the collapse of a side that would have held its own in the Premiership and seen us build to a position that Boro, Charlton, Bolton hold. Platt never had a chance with the fall out of the previous season and we are now into the seventh year of mismanagement from top to bottom - everyone shares the blame from a chairman without ambition, club staff without any idea of running a customer service business, players who are not interested, managers and coaches where our club has seen its reputation and financial stability disappear. Whatever happened to the famous "Five Year Plan"? Only the fans come out with any credit, we have built a stronger base of home and away fans on the back of the poorest football the club has served up in nearly thirty years. I cannot see any end to this spiral of decline which very soon going to see us drop into league one.

For me the blame firmly (lie's) with the the man from UMBRO. Did i here Big bad joe saying he had got the debts down from 40 million to 15.Well one is slightly puzzled by this! reason being? It was only a month or so ago before joe took the job, our debt was a little over 20 million (Struggling to add that one up myself)
The team has to be shrunk further more to reduce the debts, "Now dont try telling me the likes of Reid & dawson wont be leaving" How many times have we heard comments like that (Sure you have the power keep these players joe shame on you)(10 out of ten for trying to steady the nerves)
I find it hard to belive we can not attract someone who would be willing to invest in FOREST, we are a big enough club with history. I dont give a ******* what people think but this club should be far more appealing then other midland clubs in this division and and below! Always have always will be!!!
Regards
The man from del'monte
Peter Hall
Reasons for the mess:
1) The ill-conceived pre-season marketing campaign (probably the worst peice of marketing since Marie Antionette signed up for Mr Kipling)which formed a wedge between the Club and it's fan base.
2) Mr Kinnear whose rudeness to the fans by not speaking to them is only made worse by the rot he says whenever he does speak.
3) Mr Kinnear for team tactics. Game after game the team look clueless on the pitch for a lot of the time. If that's not Mr Kinnear's fault it should be.
Last season you could see where we were going wrong and how things needed tweaking to turn the season around. This season the team is a shambles.
3) The fans - we've not complained loudly enough - yet!
Tricky Tree
Platt wasted unbelivable amount of money and was a terrible coach. Too many players have left the club over the last few years (Williams, Prutton, Jenas, Brennan, John, Harewood, Scimica, Bart-Williams, Andy Johnson) and they've either not been replaced or the players that have come haven't been good enough. Paul Hart never had the full confidence of Doughty. And now Kinear is picking up the pieces. At last he's now got a squad of players to work with and has brought in Mike Harford - he needs a bit more time to turn things around
Stephen Jeffery
Too many quality players have been allowed to leave the club to be replaced by mediocre buys. You are only as good as your last result and ultimately the current management are to blame. Retrograde steps have been made in buying back former players. If they did not fit the bill then why are they being brought back. Probably because they are cheap. Forest are totally in a Catch 22 situation i.e. if you don't offer competitive pay then players won't come. Would you get a job with less pay?
Al
There are a number of people to blame. Platt was not really interested and didnt know what he was doing. Kinnear says that he has to think about being at Forest -surely if he has to think about it then he shouldnt be there???
Derby Red
David Platt started the rot, but todays players are just as responsible and lack bottle.
John Nally
Doughty originally followed by Platt. Joe Kinnear is a joke, he wont keep his gob shut especailly after a win but after a defeat he says nothing to appease fans.
Joe and is two players by friday comments are bringing our club into disrepute
redrob
The blame lies in a number of areas. Platt was useless but who appointed him? Kinnear is an honest guy in an almost impossible situation. He will succeed elsewhere but not at Forest because his way of playing does'nt suit our club and is'nt appreciated by supporters who are used to better. The performance at Gillingham was pathetic against a poor side. Nigel Doughty saved the club...there is no getting away from it and for that we should be grateful but I am not sure if he is up to taking the club to the next stage. If you want to play with the big boys you have to behave like them and that means getting rid of the wage cap. You can then attract some half decent players to the club.Perhaps it is time for him to move on?

Any fans get the team they deserve - Forest fans are among the most negative in the world ( the away support is exempted from this criticism) I've heard them get on players backs 2 minutes into a game; they've given stick to players then moaned when they left (Campbell, Gemmill, Scimica, Harwood Williams etc) Last season Gareth Taylor played on with an injury and all around me people were giving him stick. Now Doughty despite throwing money (limited amounts I know) at the club is on the receiving end; I can't understand why he bothers to stick around; I wouldn't, I'd let the club go to the receiver then hear the same whingers bleating for Doughty to come rescue us (again)! One piece of advice to forest fans; get behind your team on match day don't just sit there moaning - all the away teams know they've only got to weather the first five minutes at the city ground before the forest fans turn on their team
gareth collins, cardiff (the red half)
do it for my friend NICK ILIFFE's sake.me and him were at nottingham trent together and supported them through the platt and hart era.theres not been much change in squad since then and its vital we keep hold of dawson and reid in january otherwise its gona be a bleak 2005.
barry mills
get joe out now
rob bramley
we are not allowed to fully get behind the team ask anyone in A bLOCK HEAVY HANDED STEWARDING if it wasnt for these lads there would not be any atmosphere at all on match days so leave the fans alone and let us to get on getting fully behind the team
Ian
Nigel Doughty. He appointed Platt and agreed to his financial deals that are now relegating the club. He didn't back Hart, when we had a top six side, to enable him to keep players like Scimeca, Brennan and Harewood. Thank you for saving the club Mr. Doughty but the job is only half done. Your attitude is very tiring now.
Johnny b
Doughty appointed Platt who wasted umpteen millions, Doughty signed the cheques! Doughty did not back hart when it was needed after the play-off season. Doughty has promised Kinnear money in the closed season but now it appears there ain't any? No wonder Joes had enough, Doughty has wasted his own money by his own mistakes but tries to put the blame elsewhere, we are in debt due to this chairman and this is where the blame for it all lies.
Lucky Col
Joe Kinnear. He doesn't manage the club with the best interests of the club at heart, He's only got the best interests of Joe Kinnear at heart. It's all about how well he's done with the players, the debt etc, but when it's negative it's always someone elses fault, the fans, the chairman, and that's if he speaks at all. If Joe stays, we go down, it's that simple.
Iestyn
We need a new manager to bring in quality players!??? What a stupid comment!!!! - There is no money available for the present manager let alone a new manager. It's all about the money. If Joe kinnear had 2 million quid and the wage budget to sort those players then things would be different....but he hasn't
Janet Day
They get to much money for kicking a bag of wind about.
Dave Ward
Everyone is to blame with either poor performances, expecting too much, too many high hopes, incorrect marketing and this season poor radio coverage.
dave evans
i dont know what do think any more.its totally not us (the fans) whos the blame,we need the right manager and one who can lift the players up for the matches?the players need to realise the this club has a great history and they need to lift the club back it belongs the top of the championship and back in the premiership,i think the club has gone backwards since the playoffs two years ago, when we had a easy lead and lost it when should of won, thats sums it up,the players not realise the history and expections of the club, they are playing like kids in the park on a sunday,me and my mates would do alot better and we would repect the club and play with passion and pride!come on you reds!

The seeds of all the current problems, without a doubt, were sown with the disastrous appointment of Platt as manager, that man hasn't a clue as a manager and should NEVER have been brought in to do the job. Howqever, it's all water under the bridge now, what matters is NOW, time for everyone at the club, from the top to the bottom, supporters included, to collectively roll up sleeves, dig in and get out of this situation.....FAST. Come on U Reds.........
Arthur Gimble (Notts County Fan)
Brian Clough. In the mid 70's things were not so different from Notts County. Both old 2nd division sides - around the same place. He took over and exceeded all expectations. Now, the hangover from his success has got to end. Come and join us in league one next season.
Martin
Currently Joe Kinnear is to blame, its one in a list of people guilty of poor manangement of our club. The fans deserve medals. Joe leave now you are a disgrace to football. David Platt.....what can I say!
Jay
everyone has a part to blame so everyone should be to blame
Isaac Hunt
look back a bit before Platt to see where the damage was done. Freedman, Quashie, Hjelde, Andy Johnson, Mattson, Ian Moore,Pascolo, Rogers, Shipperley. That little lot cost around 12m. All were poor and were given away. Take a bow Mr Bassett!!
Bob Marshall
I have been watching Forest since 1956, a certain B Clough scored a hat trick in my first game. This is one of the worst performing teams i have seen. Up there with the Gillies side of the late sixties / early seventies, and the Platt side of recent era. What frustrates me about this side is they have ability and some good players, but no one to coach and motivate them. Good players do not become bad players overnight. Kinnear is of the old school whose tactics do not work for very long with modern players. The players have lost it with him this season. If he is still here in May we will be relegated. GET HIM OUT NOW!!!
James
I think the problems started seriously with Platt. The man was too arrogant yet had little coaching experience. I dont think Kinnear is the right man for the job. Get Harry Redknapp. He knows how to manage a team with no financial backing from chairmen.
stu cassidy
the blame firmly stops with doughty he did not back paul hart when he needed it, hart was forced to sell players for pittance div 1 top scorer 750k joke. brennan, huckerby, williams, scimeca, marlon, lester, prutton, four of please are in the premiership, we brought in jess, rogers, impey, taylor,
king,evans.
please leave the club mr doughty thanks for sending us to the grave yard of old div3
Matt Forde
It's all of them, but Platt and the players more. The man is an idiot who wasted time and money. The current batch of players hardly look interested in the club, happy with their wages and playboy lifestyles
Emily
I THINK ITS NEARLY EVERYONES FAULT BECAUSE THE PLAYERS AINT PLAYING JOE KINNEAR AINT MANAGING THE FANS AINT SUPPORTING AND ITS ALRIGHT THAT THEY ARE WINNING BIG TEAMS LIKE READING AND WESTHAM BUT THEY SHOULD BEAT LOWER TEAM LIKE ROTHERHAM AND TEAMS LIKE GILLINGHAM I THINK THAT WE NEED A NEW MANAGER I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS A NEW MANAGER WILL PLAY DIFFERENT BRING IN MORE QUALITY PLAYERS.
Kevan Reeves
Forests problems are due to the Chairman. He says he has done so much for the club but how do we know? The club is now run shrouded in secrecy with only Doughtys word for it.
MARK MUGASETH(A NOTTS COUNTY FAN)
I think that the balme should be with Joe Kinnear. The man should go now!
Andrew Cairns
I blame all of the people listed except the fans! The fans have a right to bemoan these abject performances and pay money week in week out to watch this rubbish! you'll never see the fans walk out on a club!
Jodie
I really dont know who is to blame. i think the fans just want a bit of hope. but with performances like saturday has all the hope gone?
