Thirteen Senses album cover

Thirteen Senses - The Invitation

Holly Miles
Hot on the heels of Keane come a band that sounds remarkably like Keane.

Who

Four piece in their early twenties who come from Cornwall.

Not much of a haven for rock?

Well, who’d heard of Battle before Keane became famous?

Verdict

Ah Keane. Thirteen Senses might have a standardised line-up (vocals, bass, guitar, drums) but they do sound uncannily like Keane at times…or Coldplay. Maybe they’re a tad heavier but the comparisons look likely to dog the band for some time. That could be a bad or good thing. If you like Keane, you’ll like Thirteen Senses but is that enough to make you want to buy the album? There are plenty of stand out tracks on The Invitation. Into the Fire will fast become a favourite and Gone has the hall marks of that great growing ballad but…it does sound like we’ve heard it before. Of course the music world is littered with bands that hit the “current” trend. We had it with countless Brit Pop groups. Whether Thirteen Senses can survive the blitz of thoughtful, moody rock the pop world is now demanding only time will tell.
