Name: Clive
Hallatt
Born: Lenton
Moved to: Palo Alto, California.

Where did you grow up?
I was born
in the city hospital delivered by Dr Cockrain. The weather was so
foggy that night that all the busses stopped running and my father
wasn't able to visit until the next day.
We lived in
Lenton where the Newgate court flats are now.
The filming of Saturday Night and Sunday Morning was being filmed
on our street, my father had to complain to Norman Rossington and
Shirley Anne Field, they were revving the car engine to keep warm
on those cold winter nights.
In 1960 the
city council decided it was time to redevelop the area so the family
moved to 1 Macfarlane Terrace which was were the entrance to the
upstairs room of the Happy Return pub is now located.
In 1962 the
city council decided to widen the redevelopment of Lenton so the
family moved to Bilborough were I attended Melbury infant school
for one
term.
What was life like growing up in Nottingham?
My father had
no transport of his own and it proved too difficult for him to get
to work, often taking a bus into and out of town. He was a painter
and decorator, so the family moved back to Lenton in November 1964.
I started
school at Lenton infant and junior school in June 1965. Edna G.
Olds School was built and I finished junior school there.
In 1970 I went
to Mundella Grammar School and did my O'levels. Mundella only went
to the fifth form that year and I went to Bilborough Sixth Form
College to do my A Levels.
I worked at
the Post office for a couple of years and worked in the TV license
investigation unit.
What took
you to America?
I went to Hatfield
Polytechnic and studies computer science. The course was a sandwich
course and I worked for a company in Cambridge for a year. We wrote
some software for a company in Palo Alto, California. I worked there
for a summer and then finished up at Hatfield and then returned
to California to start my career.
I have worked
in Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing and Business
Development, in the networking arena.
