Hockerton Housing Project: A garden
The project gardens sit between the south facing conservatories and the lake, creating a mini-oasis of green and calm.

The homes buffer the noise of local roads, whilst birdsong from lake and nearby trees and fields dominate the sounds.

The conservatories are not far away if the sun goes in, or the sun is interrupted by a passing shower, so it never feels that you are far from the outdoor environment.

There is no need to use up too much space for growing food, as there is plenty of room elsewhere on site.

The gardens therefore focus on being play and relaxation areas where insect flowers dominate, pet guinea pigs mow the lawns, and children run about.
