Weird name, weird place? Not according to manager of the Screaming
Carrot, Jo Salter.
"I decided to give it that name because of the response from
meat eaters, who, when being defensive about their ability to eat
slaughtered animals retort:"Well, vegetarians are just as bad
- carrots scream when you pull them from the ground."
Mmm… perhaps they do, or perhaps it's just a theory invented
by guilty meat eaters wrestling with their conscience.
"Attitudes to vegan food are changing..." says Jo, "...not
just because less people want to eat meat but also because there
are so many more allergies to dairy products, especially amongst
children. There is a vegan substitute for everything now - we've
even got vegan fishfingers!"
One of the best sellers is the tasty carrot cake - just screaming
out to be eaten?
