Susie Hall's Guide...
The second stop on Route One is Lace Market. The home of the old Victorian lace warehouses has now given way to hip loft apartments, bars and independent clothes shops. You can even buy lace although you'll struggle to find a market nearby.

In the direct vicinity...

The Priory (Bar)
The kind of establishment where alcohol flows freely - a mixed clientele of young folk and office workers tuck into the usual chain pub fare and are coaxed into drunkeness by cut price shooters and deals on vino.

Cabaret (Bar / Club)
Life's just a cabaret old chum - the home of "Slinky Minky" and several queens of drag plus "Just the Tonic" on a Sunday night for comic japes. Hecklers beware the fire escape can be used for swift removals.

Ark (Clothing shop)
Cool folk come here for their urban street threads. Men and women's gear and accessories from the likes of Carhartt, Bench and Hussy. Word up.

Two Seasons (Clothing shop)
Go in here if you want to pretend that you board, surf or skate. Or if you want to look like you do. Or in fact if you do. Has all the necessary clothes and equipment and accessories to look like you belong on various continents.

Mono (Bar and restaurant)
A leather sofas, mahogany and black and white photos kind of eaterie . With mid priced bar food ranging from sarnies to steak, and set price lunch and dinner menus.

Amusements (Amusement arcade)
Over 18's can lose themselves in the bright flashing lights of the usual slot and game machines. Also has pool tables.
