Severe
flood warnings, lifeboat rescues, burst banks were all part of the
summer fun in August 2002.

One
of the most attractive parts of our beautiful county are its countless
waterways. They keep the countryside green and lush, offer fine
views and relaxing riverside venues.
The
price we pay for these glorious arteries, is clear when the rains
come, bringing drama and tragedy to hundreds of property owners.
But
even at the height of the trouble, there's a certain beauty in the
watery scenes.
Here's
a collection of photos taken by BBC journalists, local residents
and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
