University
isn't just about getting drunk and finding it funny to throw a frozen
chicken out of a window you know. No, there's a degree of course
(but you knew that, right?) and getting to live away from home,
fending for yourself and washing your own bed clothes (you knew
that too, right?).
On
top of that however, there is so much more you can be getting your
hands dirty with.
On
the Saturday of Freshers' Week, the Students' Union runs an event
known as Freshers' Fair. This is a veritable festival of opportunities
for the new student at York University, showcasing as it does every
society and group on offer.
Whether
you're interested in the joys of campanology, want to turn your
hand to TV or Radio presenting, have a penchant for any particular
niche of popular music or just want to know quite what 2am Society
get up to, then this is for you.
I couldn't
do justice to all the great organisations that will be displaying
their wares at this bazaar, but suffice to say one of the best ways
to get involved with something new and possibly interesting, is
to get yourself along, take a deep breath and dive in.
You
never know, it could just be the start of a lengthy love affair.
