Duncan Marwick
Duncan Marwick plays Mark

Get ready for the rush as rehearsals are underway for York Theatre Royal's exciting production, Trainspotting, which is set to take The Studio by storm from 9-31 May.

Tim Welton returns to York in the role of director, following the huge success of The Studio's inaugural season in September 2000, when he directed Happy Jack, Disco Pigs and Live Bed Show.

Exciting Trainspotting

Jo Freer

Hailed as a cultural phenomenon, Irvine Welsh's tale of drugs, dole and self-destruction is widely celebrated both as the best-selling novel and cult film.

Harry Gibson’s stage adaptation has sent shockwaves and sparked international debate since its West End debut.

Now it gets the stage treatment here in York's newly refurbished Studio space.

The cast features::

  • Duncan Marwick as Mark Renton;
  • Derek McGhie as Tommy;
  • Jo Freer as Alison;
  • Paul Cowie as Franco.

Not suitable for softies, this is one play that'll make you sit up and take notice!
