Meet Lauren, a "stereotypical American" who's spending
a bit of time here in our fair county. In her diary entries she'll
bring thoughts on life here in North Yorkshire from a transatlantic
perspective.
6:
Thinking of home
People here always smile when you tell them you're from New
York City. It's really a magical place and sometimes when you get
caught up in the routine of everyday life, you forget all that waits
for you.
5:
Pledging allegiance
I am a red-blooded American who decks out in red, white and
blue on the 4th of July and has been known to get misty during the
National Anthem.
4:
Irate New Yorker
Last Sunday, I transformed from sweet American girl into an
irate New Yorker. Unfortunately, my boyfriend and tourists to Ilkley
were witnesses.
3:
London IS England
I love my friends back in the United States dearly, but
their lack of geographical knowledge is really frightening.
2:
The Great American Supergeek
I've been here 24 hours if not more, and I'm finding I'm not starving
as badly as I thought I would (even though I brought a Starbucks
crumb cake from home in case I did).
1:
Let's talk voltage
"I'll admit that I'm your stereotypical American-I shudder
at the thought of the small soft drinks without refills in the UK
almost as much as I cringe when I have to double every pound price
to figure it out in dollars."
