Hard to believe, but I'm going back home to New York in just two
days.
Before I even got on the plane to come here, I wondered what going
home would be like. I wondered, would I be happy to go home, or
would I be upset?
It's weird, really - mainly because it's neither. My entire trip
went very quickly. Being away from New York for such a long time
(well, for me it was the longest I had ever been out of the state
itself) was a good experience. I had a chance to really see Britain--
not from the tourist spot perspective, but from an everyday one.
Interestingly, it made me yearn to see more in my own Manhattan
backyard, something I haven't had the chance to do much, having
always been involved with a university-style workload or my job
as a first grade teacher.

People here always smile when you tell them you're from New York
City. It's really a magical place and sometimes when you get caught
up in the routine of everyday life, you forget all that waits for
you.
Sometimes you need those smiles to remind you that people are intrigued
by New York, just like you once were. Having a month in a much less
chaotic setting gave me a chance to collect my thoughts, reflect
and explore some rather unfamiliar territory. Instead of living
in a city that's always full of visitors, I got to be the visitor
here in the UK and I really enjoyed every moment of it.
I won't be sad on Friday when I get on that flight back to New
York, because I know I'll be back for visits.
And as we say in America
That's a-OK by me.
