Knaresborough
Bed Race was
bound to prove tough going this year, not only as there were 48
teams due to take part, but the weather would take its toll as the
sun shone.

the bed race has always been a lot of fun! Photo sent in by

Last
year's winning team, Harrogate Harriers, had a lot to do if they
were to beat last year's time of 14 mins and two seconds, but beat
it they did. They knocked five seconds off the time with an amazing
13 mins 57 seconds.
The
crowds at the waters edge had the best view of the teams as they
entered the River after a mad sprint around the town course.

Lots
of beds overturned, which delighted the crowds but the White Dolphin
Sub Aqua team were in the water to make sure everyone was safe.

The
theme of this years race was children's stories and all the beds
were decorated in favourites such as Willy Wonka and the chocolate
factory, Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland to name but a few.
Great
photo!
So,
with fairy tale 'craft' and keen racers, the Knaresborough Bed Race
is the scene of some exciting photo opportunities! Look through
the Bed
Race gallery pages.
Next
year will be the 40th running of this race, so planning has already
started.
Alongside
the race, BBC Radio York's Dougie Weake provided a live broadcast
from the riverside and Adam Tomlinson looked after the roadshow
from the BBC Radio York Stage.
If
you'd like to add any of your own photos of the bed race to our
gallery, send them into northyorkshire@bbc.co.uk.
We look forward to seeing them.
