They differ from our 'Have Your Say' pages in that your views are posted straightaway, and you have the power to create your own discussion topic.

To use the message boards you first have to register. If you have registered for any other BBC message board, you can use your login and username on the North Yorkshire message board.

If you haven't used a BBC message board before, our step-by-step instructions will help you get started.

1) Follow this link, it will open in a new window

2) On the top left-hand corner of the page, click on the word register

3) Follow the instructions on the page. Enter your chosen name (this will be displayed on messages you post) and then think up a login name. Your log in name is not published in your messages. You may have to try a few, as your login name must be unique.

4) When you have successfully registered you will be sent a confirmation email. Click on the link in the email and registration is complete! Until you follow the link in your confirmation email, your posts will be hidden.

5) Get posting!
