Help
- we are over-50 singles...
So what! Get a life! No doubt, this is what the younger generation
is saying.
Two months ago my friends and I decided to take weekend breaks
in various interesting cities in UK or abroad. The last Bank Holiday
we had a look at York, it being the most historic city in UK after
London.
Your city has a lot to offer. During the day we explored the Minster,
walked the ramparts, soaked up the Viking history. All very interesting!
But what did we do in the evening? Zilch! Why?
We were looking for venues where we could have a drink, talk to
new people and dance the night away in a safe environment. After
talking to the locals and reading the Yorkshire Post we duly visited
some of the pubs in the town centre to find some action.
These were all very busy, full of friendly people out for a Saturday
drink but that was not what we were looking for. For older singles
there were no wine bars, clubs or organisations either advertised
in the paper or known to the York residents.
In desperation we approached the hotel reception with our quest
drawing another blank. Plenty of nightlife exists for the 18-30
years olds. More mature clubbers must seek their entertainment in
Leeds!
The Office of Population Census estimates that by the year 2010
there will be more over 50s than 16-18 year-olds. S0
the grey power will rule having the free time and the money to spend!
Age should not be a barrier to having fun in your life!
Calling all entrepreneurs in York! Stop people going to Leeds!
Fill this gap in your own city! Create nightlife for us mature clubbers!
Best wishes from your roving reporters,

I have found exactly the same problem myself. No where in the evening to go and have a drink, chat, and a dance...My friend and I are constantly going round in circles seeking a nice up market wine bar for older people and we are 46.We have tried the coast, country pubs, inland and really have not found one suitable venue to go to and no-body we speak to can not reccommend anywhere. It seems madness that we can not go out and enjoy an evening out. I am glad others have found it the same as we were begining to think it was us!!!
