Peter
Kearney studied Printmaking and Book IIlustation at Hornsey College
of Art. He became a full-time art teacher and moved to Yorkshire
in 1970 to become Head of Art and Design at King James's School,
Knaresborough.
Since
retirement he has developed his career as a painter and graphic
artist and he has been particularly inspired by the challenge of
painting out of doors in all seasons and is drawn to the wilder
parts of the Pennines and the Lake District Fells.
He
is a tutor at art summer schools and also leads a large Harrogate
art group. He uses a wide range of painting mediums to capture the
play of light in both still life and landscape.
He
has exhibited throughout Yorkshire and the North of England and
enjoys working for commissions. His work is in private collections
both in Europe and North America.

exhibitions
'Yule
Cool', the "hottest show for original art", featuring
Peter Kearney, Norma Galley, Julie Cope, Judy Dickinson, Barbara
Asquith, and Zillah Patrick. The exhibition will be at the Beech
House Gallery, 62 High Street, Knaresborough. And the show runs
from 11 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays - November 19th/20th
and 26th/27th, and December 3rd/4th.
