Judy is a largely self taught artist whose background has been very varied including maths engineering lecturing in ICT and teaching in nursery schools in UK and US.

The began working in stained glass when living in the US in the '80s and it has become a life long passion, combining as it does artistic expression with technical approaches from previous careers.

She has been working from her studio the Flying Pig Glass Company for the last five years where most of her work is commissioned she interprets the particular requirements of the client in a wide range of styles.

Left to her self her style has become increasingly abstract and structural.

The methods are traditional - glass of different colours and textures set in lead came - but the resulting pieces are modern and graphic.

The glass is unadorned by paint or other surface treatments to maximise the essential brilliance of the medium. Colour is often vibrant but can be subtle.

Most of all the work is about light and is designed to react differently in changing light conditions so that a piece may take time to reveal all its secrets!

She also passes on her skills in regular workshop sessions at The Flying Pig.

She encourages her students to be equally bold in their approach and to challenge themselves in their work.
