I studied
at Cleveland College of Art and Design, before going on to Winchester
School of Art to study painting.
After
a considerable break, I have returned to the North East and resumed
my interest in painting. My paintings have been varied including
life drawing and still life as well as abstract mixed media work.
But,
increasingly the landscape is playing a more important part. Living
in Pickering, my work is strongly influenced by the landscape around
her, whether it is the moody, magnificent moors or the rolling tapestries
of agricultural fields.
Working
both on canvas and paper my paintings are strong in composition
and rhythm and show a fearless passion for colour. My most recent
paintings are moving in the direction of semi abstract.
I have
exhibited throughout the region including the North Yorkshire Coast
Open Studios event, which has just completed a successful second
year. My paintings are increasingly sought after and are held in
many private collections.
