Simon Crossley

Halifax-born Simon moved to Bishopthorpe at the age of four and first started to paint when he was just 16. Oils are Simon's favourite and he plans to use these more in the future.

I have been working as a self-employed artist for the last four years after graduating with a BA Honours degree in Art and Design from Leeds University.

I am greatly inspired by music and film. Also I play in a York/Leeds based band called Radio Gypsy and this clearly manifests in my work.

I enjoy painting portraits of musicians and film characters and I feel I can relate to these creative artists.

I work in acrylics and oils and my current style is inspired by Warhol, Lichtenstein and George Ioannou.

I have completed many commissions for individuals and have paintings on display and for sale at the Wall Gallery in Wakefield where I work closely with the owner Malc Jeffs. I also have a permanent display of my work on show at The Stone Roses Bar in York.
