Shane is 19 years old and lives at a shelter for young people in Selby following the breakdown in relationship with his mum. He says living away from home isn't what most teenagers would expect.

Title: Shane's Story
 Shane's Story
Length:1:52 mins
Date:November 2006

Shane is 19 years old. He enjoys spending time with his friends and his two young nieces who live locally. He also takes part in an education course.

But unlike many teenagers, Shane doesn't live with his family. He left the family home following the breakdown of his relationship with his mum and now lives with other young people at a shelter in Selby.

After discovering that life away from home isn't necessarily everything he hoped it might be, he's all too aware of the difficulties faced by young homeless people.
