As a child at school I loved my art classes, and at the age of eight years I won my first painting competition, with a little inspiration from Rolf Harris. As 1st prize I got to take my whole family to the pictures.

I then went on to train as a graphic artist (taking over Leo Sayers desk at 'Graphic Arts' in Sussex) but left just before the end of my training to get married.

Life intervened between me and my art for many years; whilst the family were growing up I had to earn money so art took a back seat. Then in 2003 I had the opportunity to return to college to continue with my training to become an artist.

I studied a two year National Diploma course in Fine Art at Harrogate College and achieved a triple Distinction, which is now proudly displayed at the entrance to my home as it meant I had actually stayed the course.

In April 2005 I was lucky enough to have a painting accepted at Harrogate’s prestigious Mercer Gallery‘s open exhibition. It sold on the opening night. I won't forget the feeling when my tutor came up and told me my picture had a red dot on it. I now felt justified in calling myself an ARTIST.

Since then I have produced artwork for a high quality giftware company called Rosemary Jane. I have taken on commissions in the form of animals and houses; strange mix but true. But mostly I have been working on my own themed paintings.

I am a member of the Harrogate and Nidderdale Art Club. We have an exhibition coming up starting on 4th May 2007 at Ripley Town Hall, open daily 10am to 5pm Sat 5th Sun 6th Mon 7th Admission is free.
