Artist: Cinzia Bacilieri
Originally from Italy, where she learnt her trade, Cinzia has spent lots of time travelling the world. However, it was the city of York that Cinzia fell most deeply in love with, and she now works here as a full time artist. She's inspired by nature.
I undertook my studies of art at the Ferrara School of Fine Art in Italy, my native country, where I have also exhibited my work on several occasions.
Since 2005 I have been based in York, a town with which I have fallen madly in love. After many years of travelling, my affection for Yorkshire has persuaded me to finally settle down and pursue a career as an artist in this region.
In my work I try to bring objects to life in a new light, with the desire of creating evocative atmospheres similar to those woven by spellbinding tales.
The colour scheme is inspired by Italian Renaissance tapestries, where a few predominant colours emerge from the surrounding darkness.
I constantly try to experiment, working with new material with the aim of creating a more versatile final product and maintaining freshness in my artistic creation.
Regardless of the material used I always try to maintain my personal style which I consider a distinctive mark of my creativity.
