Artists' QuarterYou are in: North Yorkshire > Entertainment > The Arts > Artists' Quarter > Artist: Janette Boskett ![]() Detail from Grinkleshelf. Artist: Janette BoskettBy Janette Boskett When she's not running her guest house in Staithes, Janette can be found in her studio creating surreal paintings inspired by the north-east coast. Take a look at her work here. I was born in Bridlington on the north-east coast and have now returned to live in this coastal region, although about fifty miles further north. The area has many connections and memories for me. ![]() Janette Boskett. In June 2000 I completed a Fine Art degree from the University of York. To study for this was a long-held ambition and now I paint whenever possible. This is not full time, alas, because we run a very busy guest house at the northern-most tip of the North York Moors, near Staithes, but I can be found in my studio at the back of the house in any spare moments. ![]() Detail from Grand Tour. I use the house as a gallery space with my paintings on display in many of the rooms: most are available to purchase. Guests are also very welcome to see my studio and any work in progress, (so also are non- resident visitors, but only by prior arrangement.) I specialize in interesting and different still life subjects and I like to achieve a gently surreal or Magic Realist quality where possible. I have shown in Exhibitions at Scarborough, Whitby, York and Newcastle and have work in many private collections in the U.K. If you would like to contact me with any comments or questions about my work, or would like to ask about commissioning a unique painting, I would love to hear from you.
