The picturesque fishing town of Whitby might not strike you as at the heart of cutting edge world music, but for one weekend in October, that's exactly what it becomes! Now in its sixth year, the Whitby World Music Festival is organised by a not-for-profit organisation, Whitby Musicport. The three day festival consists of a concert programme at The Compass Club, a Fair Trade outlet at The Port Hole, and a workshop/education programme. The festival runs from 21st until 23rd October 2005. For details on tickets, performance times and complete listings, go to the Whitby World Music Festival 2005 website (see link, top right).
