We now know your favourite modern buildings in Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire and Cumbria - but which is your overall favourite? Cast your vote here. After a massive response from you in our online vote, the original shortlist of 14 buildings from across the region has now been whittled down to one building each from Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria. The winning building from the following five nominations will be awarded their prize at the North West Property Awards at Manchester on Thursday May 17th. Voting in the competition, which is run in conjunction with North West Business Insider magazine, closes at 1300 on the same day. The nominations for the prize are as follows: ![]() Imperial War Museum North Greater Manchester - Imperial War Museum NorthDaniel Libeskind's Imperial War Museum North is one of the buildings that has highlighted Manchester's regeneration. Opened in 2002 at a cost of £28 million, the building also won the British Construction Industry Building Award of 2003. ![]() Jaguar House at Chester Zoo Cheshire - Jaguar House, Chester ZooIn his assessment of the building for North West Tonight, Manchester architecture expert Phil Griffin said that one of the main functions of a building is that it "should be enjoyed," and that the Jaguar House certainly is. As well as housing the big cats, the building is also home to an ant colony. Merseyside - Aintree racecourseAintree's resurgence has come over the last three years as part of a £34 million re-design. New grandstands have taken their place alongside the relocation of the parade ring and the construction of a new Aintree pavillion. ![]() Blackburn station Lancashire - Blackburn Station and Transport InterchangePhil Griffin saw Blackburn station's platform canopy as "open, light and made from good materials." He also described it as "characterful." The canopy was opened in 2001 and has been described as "the catalyst for the regeneration of this great industrial town." ![]() Blackwell House Cumbria - Blackwell House, WindermereBlackwell House was built as a holiday home for Manchester brewer Sir Edward Holt. From 1998, money was raised to restore and re-open the building as a gallery.
