Occasionally, you'll also see him early doors, eyes propped open, presenting the early news too.

He's a bit of an all-rounder who has worked for the BBC for 15 years. In that time he’s been a TV reporter and producer, a breakfast radio show presenter in Manchester and Stoke and plenty more besides.

But he maintains that doing lots of things you enjoy is the best thing about working for the BBC.

Mark graduated from Edge Hill College in Ormskirk in 1989 with a BA (Hons) in Communication Studies and Geography. He admits that this strange combination was the groundwork for his ambition of presenting a travel show.

There were no openings for globetrotting journalists after Mark finished university, so instead he worked for the council as a rent collector in his home town of St Helens.

In need of a change after 18 months in the job, he got his first job in broadcasting by asking a radio station news editor if he needed help on a busy day - and the rest, as they say, is history.

Mark is married to Mandy whom he met at college. They live in Congleton and have two children.
