Kate Simms

Kate Simms is your Cheshire reporter, bringing you all the latest on what is happening in the county. She is usually based in the BBC's offices at County Hall in Chester and is now back from maternity leave after becoming NWT's newest mother!

Kate Simms

Kate Simms

Born in Crewe, her family roots are in Nantwich, though she was brought up in Birmingham. She returned to the North West as a student and never left!

Kate studied history at Liverpool University then went on to do a postgraduate course in broadcast journalism in Preston. After a stint of work experience at BBC Radio Merseyside, she began her career there in 1999 as a rookie reporter.

She's been part of the North West Tonight team for four years and is now the Cheshire reporter, which means she covers anything from the big court cases at Chester Crown Court to cheese shows and Bond premieres. Kate occasionally presents the North West early morning or 10.25pm bulletins.

She lives in Sale with her husband, daughter and cat.
