Andy Gill

Andy Gill

Andy Gill has been our Merseyside reporter since 2002, but has 18 years experience as a journalist in the area.

He rejoined the BBC after a short break of 13 years with ITV. Before that he worked in BBC local radio.

Andy was born in Leeds in 1959. He trained as a journalist in Cardiff after studying geography at Oxford University.

Andy won the Broadcaster of the Year Award and Business Journalist of the Year title at the Merseyside Media Network Awards 2006.

Andy lives in Wirral with his wife and two children. Proving that hope triumphs over experience, he's a season ticket holder at Leeds United. Andy also runs half marathons.

Slowly.
