Abbie Jones

Abbie is your award-winning investigative reporter.

Abbie Jones

Abbie Jones

She delves into the stories that need a bit of digging; the bus companies taken off the road because of safety fears, the outcry over agency staff told to line up for a day's work in scenes straight from the 1930s and the rise - and dangers - of internet gambling.

Her talents were recognised at the 2007 Royal Television Society awards where she was named best reporter.

She's always looking for the next big story so if you have an issue that you think needs exploring or know of a problem you believe should be exposed, let her know.

Abbie works two days a week on her investigative brief. For the rest of the time she works for North West Tonight covering anything - and everything!

Her career began at the Wigan Evening Post after a first degree in media studies from Leeds and a postgraduate newspaper journalism course at Preston.

She then moved on to a slightly bigger newspaper, but away from her Bolton roots, in Swindon.

Abbie's first job at the BBC was writing the news for Ceefax where she stayed for eight months before she got a job in the North West Tonight newsroom. She has since worked her way up to her current position.

Away from the newsroom, Abbie enjoys reading, going to the cinema and relaxing after a draining day with a nice glass of wine.
