Shades of the Burren by Valerie Cooper
16. Shades of the Burren – Valerie Cooper
The name Burren comes from the Irish word “bhoireann”,
or place of rocks. This region on the west coast of Ireland shows
signs of pre-historic human presence – from Megalithic tombs,
forts and Celtic crosses. The landscape has more than 700 species
of wild flowers and plants and the colours used in this wall-hanging
aim to depict some of these flowers which have grown in abundance
from those ancient times until the present day.
