Dromara Vintage Day 2002 - Page 1

One calendar event which wasn't actually cancelled because of the poor weather in June 2002 was the Dromara Vintage Day. Hundreds of people flocked to spend a day in the sunshine and admire the spectacle of old cars, tractors, motorcycles and steam engines on display.

Any visitor to the show could sense the pride of the exhibit owners as they waited to join the Grand Parade, perhaps a greater pride than they might display at the wheel of one of today's powerful machines costing many thousands of pounds. The brightly coloured paintwork on many of the machines is of coachbuilder's standard and brought together in large numbers like this they made for a wonderful spectacle. Few however can resist the certain magic that goes with horse drawn transport and that too was here.

A fifty year old 'Grey Fergie' TE20 that may well still be appearing on its hundredth birthday. The owner was keen to point out that it's still winning ploughing contests every year! A superb rare example of the little red 'Farmall Cub', a lightweight machine which might look a bit fragile for the job - it wasn't of course and there's little problem getting the younger folk hooked on vintage equipment. This young lady drove her huge tractor with great prowess.
