Thanks to the YPAM web site a Trans Atlantic link up unearthed this old photograph of a Portadown soccer team. It features relatives of Dan Curran in America. He sent this picture to his friend, Jean Crawford in Australia, who had already contacted the YPAM team to show us a photograph of another soccer team line up - Ireland V Lanarkshire in 1909 taken in Belfast, which featured her family !

This picture is of an unknown soccer team from Portadown, in about 1915. Dan Curran's Uncle, Joseph Michael Curran (b.1911) is sitting on the feet of Dan's Grandfather, Michael James Curran, at an unknown playing field in Ireland.

So, can you help identify more of the players or do you know what the team was called, or even where this picture was taken?

Fill in the form below if you have anything to share with us about this story.

It could be some thing to do with Curran Street which was just off off Obins Street (tunnel) in Portadown, the streets long gone well about 30 odd years or so but the name still exsists for it. But just having another look at it there can any one be sure it's soccer ? The goal posts behind it look more Gaelic or Rugby.

Portadown FC were playing in the Irish Junior League at this time. They did not enter senior football until 1924. They are currently celebrating 80 years in senior football. I have a cigarette card issued by Gallaghers in 1910 which features Michael Curran.

Trevor has very kindly sent us a photo of the cigarette card featuring Michael Curran :
