Larne - Memories - Letitia Humphrys.

Article submitted by Alison Kane

I met the Duke of Windsor in the Mill and I had to tell him what my machine did. He was the loveliest man and I can picture the coat he was wearing, a big grey coat and he asked me what the bell was for. And I told him. But there was no time off for Royal visits, as he had left the factory it was back to work

My husband and I were invited to Botanic Gardens in Belfast where we met the Queen and the King

Everyone went to Sunday School. Church is different nowadays. When we went to Sunday School you learned all those hymns.'One, two, three, four, five, six, seven we will all get into heaven'.you learnt that at Sunday School. You had to go

My husband worked in Mackays and they wore those boiler suits. I had to scrub those suits to get them clean. You had to work harder then

I had to walk six miles to work in the morning and six miles home at night because we hadn't a penny for the tram. I walked six miles to get married too!
