Party Time: Ten things to have to looking and feeling great for your Christmas party

Although it's winter and we haven't seen any hot sun in months, we'd all like to have an all-over tan for our Christmas party so why not DIY? The night before, exfoliate, moisturise and then apply your self tan. Dry off with a hairdryer and go to bed. However if you've left it to the last minute and need an instant tan, then apply any of the instant shimmers before you get dressed. Don't forget to wash your hands really well and then 'do' your hands with cotton wool.

Book your hair appointment well in advance as your stylist will probably be booked up for weeks by other regular party-goers.

There's no better preparation for a night out than having a soak in a bath. Even if you don't have much time, you can still splash out on lots of bubbles for a 15 minute soak. Don't run a very warm bath as it will dry out your skin and leave you looking like a prune.

We'd all love to go to a salon to get a manicure and pedicure but if you don't have the time or the money we suggest you do it yourself. Give your feet and hands a quick soak, push back your cuticles, apply base coat and two coats of colour. For a French manicure, use a buffer and then run a tip of a white pencil under each nail. If you're going for a colour, avoid dark colours if you're in a rush. Go for a fast drying polish or just dip your tips into ice cold water to set.

Get your CDs blasting! There's no better way to get you in the mood for a night out than having your favourite top tunes sounding around the house. Turn it up and get ready to the beat!

Treat yourself to something new to wear. You don't have to spend a fortune: just a new top or skirt or even a pair of tights. Then you just have to match it up with something you already have. It will make you feel more sexy and glam than pulling out something from your drawers.

Everyone has a pair of 'lucky' knickers that you keep for special occasions - get them out but make sure there are no VPL's (visible panty lines) showing if you plan to wear something that hugs your bottom. Thongs are great especially now that you can buy party time thongs with diamonds and other groovy accessories!

Every girl wants to have the perfect make-up for her Christmas do. Why not go for a trial in any of the large department stores to give you ideas or get it done the day of your party.

Don't forget your perfume. It's best that you apply it before getting dressed so it won't stain your clothes. Don't go overboard though - subtlety is the key! We suggest you should spray it where you'd like to be kissed!

Don't forget your accessories. Add the finishing touches with high heels, sparkly jewellery and belts. Now you're ready for your Christmas night out!!
