  Favourite Christmas Songs

Ralph McLean has given us his favourite five christmas songs but we want you to tell us yours.

Tell us what songs would be in your Christmas soundtrack

Your nominations so far

1 :: Christmas Baby Come Back Home - Darlene Love

My favourite Christmas song ever from the best ever Christmas album, Phil Spector's Christmas Gift For You. All those fabulous girl groups like The Ronettes and the Crystals rattling through seasonal classics like Frosty the Snowman…it's just perfect!

2 :: Santa Claus Go Straight To The Ghetto - James Brown

Some people dream of a white Christmas, some dread a blue Christmas but I reckon you can't beat a Brown Christmas!! This is simply the funkiest Christmas track ever. This also proves once and for all that Santa's got soul.

3 :: Who Took The Merry Out Of Christmas - The Staple Singers

This is sadly quite obscure but it's another socially-aware classic from the late great Pops Staples and company. It's a real gospel groove and I reckon it should be on every Christmas complilation. It beats Jona Lewie anyday!

4 :: Merry Christmas Baby - Elvis

Elvis is great at Christmas. There's something about the King's voice that just really suits the season. It's big, rich and perfect for singing along to with after a few glasses of mulled wine.

5 :: Merry Xmas Everybody - Slade

I know most people are sick to the back teeth of this but I love it. Noddy Holder is a true rock 'n' roll legend and this is one of his finest moments. Altogether now…..SO HERE IT IS MERRY XMAS!!!!!!!!
