Make your own advent cinnamon candle

Anne Dunseith prepares a cinnamon candle

Advent candles often have markings along their length to tell you how much to burn each day in the countdown to Christmas. This advent candle is a novel way of marking the passage of time.

Cinnamon Candle
This is a spiral of 25 cinnamon sticks of decreasing height and each day when the candle is lit, it burns down to the next cinnamon stick until finally, on Christmas day, it is level with the shortest cinnamon stick.

As a bonus, the heat of the flame releases the spicy aroma of the cinnamon.

Don't forget, never leave a burning candle unattended and do not allow the candle to burn down to within 2 inches of the display height.
